A four-time All-Mid-South Conference honoree, three-time NAIA National Championship participant in cross country, and NAIA All-American in the marathon, Shawnee State’s Joe Stewart became the program’s second NAIA All-American in men’s track, finishing sixth nationally with a 2:38:15.60 at the 2015 NAIA Marathon.
Along with his marathon success, Stewart claimed the 2015 Mid-South Conference title in the 10,000-meter run (33:15.09) and placed top-three in both the 10,000 and 3,000 steeplechase during his junior and senior track seasons. Stewart also earned multiple MSC Runner of the Week honors throughout his career.
In cross country, Stewart earned Honorable Mention All-MSC in 2011 before three straight First-Team honors in 2012 (7th), 2013 (5th), and 2014 (2nd). He helped lead the Bears to strong team finishes and placed top-75 nationally twice, including a team-best 74th in 2014 and 73rd in 2013.
