Dr. William Daehler and his wife, Anita, pledged $250,000 to Poised for Tomorrow, Shawnee State's capital campaign, for the purpose of constructing the new outdoor tennis facility on campus in 2008.

In 2016, Daehler donated the necessary funding for Shawnee State to create its first men’s tennis team.

The playing surfaces were renovated in 2023, and lights were installed in 2025.
