A No. 1 starter throughout his four-year career at Shawnee State, Wheelersburg's Derek Moore carried over his high school success to the collegiate ranks immediately.

The two-time Division III State Champion with Wheelersburg, who went 36-0 during his high school career on the bump, proceeded to go 5-0 in his first seven starts as a collegiate athlete and only allowed four earned runs during this stretch en route to a 10-2 campaign and the baseball program's first-ever sub-2.00 ERA season for a pitcher who threw at least 50 or more innings to date.

His 1.50 ERA in 2014 still stands as the program's all-time best mark.
Moore went on to sweep the Mid-South Conference's major awards in 2014, being named as the MSC's Freshman of the Year, a First-Team All-MSC honoree, the MSC's Pitcher of the Year, and an NAIA All-American all in the same season.

Moore went on to earn First-Team All-MSC honors in 2016 as well and won the Mid-South Conference's Champions of Character Award twice in the sport of baseball when the award was given to a single individual athlete.

For his career, Moore is still the baseball program's all-time leader career-wise in innings pitched, games started, batters faced, complete games, earned run average, shutouts, strikeouts, and walks allowed.
