RICHMOND, Ind. — The women's golf program at Shawnee State shot a 362 on Friday evening as a group, posting a score that has the Bears sitting ninth out of 12 teams following the opening day of competition at the two-day Indiana-East Invitational, which is being held at Highland Lake Golf Course in Richmond, Ind.
Baird, who shot an 88, led the Shawnee State women's golf output, tying for 35th in the 69-player lineup while Wellman, who shot a 89, tied for 41st in the field after the opening 18 holes of competition. Spencer, who posted a 90, tied for 47th on Day 1 of the two-day event. Baird posted five pars, Wellman birdied the ninth hole and added five pars of her own and Spencer birdied the 17th hole while posting six pars.
Competing in their first round as collegiate golfers,
Saylor Crace posted a 95 while
Olivia Lewis collected a 99 as the duo sit 55th and 59th on the leaderboard following the first day of action.
Shawnee State gets back to action on Saturday for the second and final day of the IU-East Invitational in Richmond.
