PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Robbie Dombrowski has been named the ninth head baseball coach in Shawnee State program history.

Dombrowski will take over a program that posted a 34-20 record last season and made its first NAIA National Tournament Opening Round appearance since 2011.

Over the past three seasons, Shawnee State has compiled an 89-57 cumulative record.

Dombrowski, a Delafield, Wisconsin, native, graduated from Kettle Moraine High School.

Dombrowski was a three-year starting catcher at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, where he served as a team captain for two seasons. In 2017, he helped lead the Green Knights to a Midwest Conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.

After graduating from St. Norbert in 2018 with bachelor's degrees in biopsychology and communications, Dombrowski joined the Belhaven University baseball staff as the program's hitting and catching coach prior to the 2019 season while pursuing a graduate degree in sports administration. In his one season with the Blazers, Dombrowski helped produce a .267 team batting average, while his top two catchers combined to throw out 18 of 70 attempted base stealers (.257).

Dombrowski returned to St. Norbert for the 2020 season, serving as an assistant baseball coach and the team's recruiting coordinator.

In 2021, Dombrowski was named Central Michigan's director of baseball operations. During his lone season in Mount Pleasant, the Chippewas posted a 42-18 record, winning the Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular-season championship and advancing to the regional final.

Dombrowski served as Evansville's hitting coach in 2022. Under Dombrowski's mentorship, the Purple Aces broke the program's single-season home run record, hitting 77 home runs after the previous mark stood at 64. The record has since been surpassed, with Evansville hitting 81 home runs in 2023 and 96 in 2024. Evansville finished 32-24 overall and placed second in the Missouri Valley Conference. 

In July 2022, Dombrowski earned his first collegiate head coaching opportunity when NCAA Division III member Cornell College hired him as its head baseball coach at age 26.

After the Rams posted a combined 33-54 (.379) record over the previous three seasons, Dombrowski guided the program to a 21-19 finish in his first season at the helm in 2023. In 2024, Dombrowski led Cornell to a 23-18 record, the third-most wins in program history, and its first Midwest Conference Tournament appearance since 2019. Under Dombrowski's leadership, the 2022 and 2023 seasons marked the first time in 20 years that Cornell baseball recorded back-to-back winning seasons.

The Rams followed with 14-25 and 17-21 finishes in 2025 and 2026, respectively.

In four seasons at Cornell, Dombrowski accumulated a 75-83 record as a head coach.

Shawnee State baseball will begin NCAA Division II competition in the Mountain East Conference in spring 2027.
