Box Score UPLAND, Ind. -- Shawnee State's (34-20, 16-11) historic season came to an end Wednesday afternoon as the Bears fell 9-3 to Indiana Tech in the Upland regional semifinal.
Byson Arthur gave Shawnee State its only lead of the afternoon in the first inning with an RBI double for a 1-0 advantage.
Indiana Tech scored a run in the top of the third to tie the game at 1-1.
The Warriors scored three in the fourth inning and five in the eighth to extend their lead over Shawnee State to 9-1.
The Bears scored twice in the eighth, highlighted by an RBI groundout from
Zach Gaspar and an RBI single by
Owen Elsey to cut Indiana Tech's lead to 9-3.
Shawnee State was held scoreless for the remainder of the inning as Indiana Tech punched its ticket to the Upland regional final.
Carson Wireman took the loss, allowing three runs on two hits and two hit batters without recording an out.
Eli Jones and
Byson Arthur both batted 1-for-3, with Arthur recording an RBI double.
Jace Parnin finished 1-for-4 and
Wyatt Haupt went 1-for-1 with a double.
Owen Elsey went 1-for-1 with an RBI.
