Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio --
Nolan Austin's walk-off RBI single in the ninth inning propelled Shawnee State (22-12, 11-7) to an 11-10 nonconference win over Georgetown Tuesday afternoon.
The Bears have won each of the last four meetings against the Tigers.
Georgetown opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first inning.
In the bottom of the inning,
Jace Parnin slugged a two-run homer to cut the Tigers' lead to 3-2.
Georgetown scored three more runs in the second, extending its lead to 6-2.
The Bears responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from
Diego Mendoza and an RBI single by
Jack Amis.
Shawnee State took the lead in third inning, as
Eli Jones hit a two-RBI single to put the Bears ahead 7-6.
The Tigers scored three runs in the sixth, retaking the lead 9-7.
The Bears tied the game at 9-9 in the bottom of the inning as
Diego Mendoza and
Jack Amis recorded RBI on a double and a sacrifice fly, respectively.
A sacrifice fly put Georgetown back in front 10-9 in the top of the ninth inning.
With two outs in the bottom of the inning,
Mason Reid hit an RBI single to left field, tying the game at 10-10.
The next batter,
Nolan Austin, ripped a 3-2 pitch to right field, scoring
Bryce Wilfert and giving the Bears an 11-10 walk-off win.
Jace Parnin was credited with the win, allowing no earned runs on zero hits and a walk in the top of the ninth.
Diego Mendoza and
Nolan Austin each finished 2-for-5. Mendoza hit two doubles and drove in three runs, while Austin recorded the game-winning RBI.
Larry Drake went 2-for-4 and
Eli Jones batted 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Owen Elsey and
Mason Reid each finished 1-for-3 with Reid driving in a run.
Jack Amis and
Jace Parnin both batted 1-for-4 with two RBI. Parnin hit his sixth home run of the season in the first.
Byson Arthur finished 1-for-4.
