Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Shawnee State (28-14, 15-9) broke the NAIA single-game RBI record and tied the single-game runs record amidst a 45-9 route of NCAA Division II Kentucky State.
The Bears' 45 RBI broke
Texas A&M Texarkana's single-game RBI record of 40, which was set earlier this year.
Jace Parnin started the scoring for Shawnee State with an RBI single to give the Bears a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
The Thoroughbreds responded with a three-run home run in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead -- their only lead of the game.
Shawnee State scored eight runs in the top of the second, highlighted by
Nolan Austin and
Caeleb McGraw scoring on a defensive error,
Jace Parnin hitting a sacrifice fly,
Larry Drake slugging his second grand slam in seven days and
Caeleb McGraw hitting an RBI single.
Kentucky State plated five runs in the bottom of the inning, however, the Thoroughbreds still trailed Shawnee State 9-8.
In the third inning,
Diego Mendoza hit a solo home run and
Larry Drake blasted a three-run homer to extend the Bears lead to 13-8.
The Bears added seven more runs in the fourth, as
Jace Parnin hit a two-RBI double,
Larry Drake smashed a three-RBI double,
Wyatt Haupt and
Jack Amis recorded RBI groundouts and
Eli Jones hit an RBI single.
Kentucky State scored a run in the bottom of the inning, however, Shawnee State answered with five more runs in the fifth.
Mason Reid drove in a run on a groundout,
Diego Mendoza hit a three-run homer and
Jack Amis launched a solo home run over the center field wall, giving the Bears a 25-9 lead.
In the sixth,
Kyle Gillispie drove in two runs on a double to left field,
Diego Mendoza and
Elijah Burress drew RBI walks,
Jack Amis and
Brady Sauer were both hit by pitch to record RBI and
Bryce Wilfert recorded an RBI fielder's choice.Â
The Bears' largest single-inning offensive output came in the seventh, when they scored 13 runs.

The Thoroughbreds went scoreless in the bottom of the inning, as Shawnee State secured the 45-9 run-rule victory over Kentucky State.
Malik Diack earned the win, allowing zero runs on no hits and two walks while striking out one in the fifth.
Diego Mendoza went 4-for-6 with two home runs and eight RBI, while
Jack Amis finished 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and eight RBI.
Larry Drake batted 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and 10 RBI -- the most individual RBI in a single game for a Shawnee State player this season.
Caeleb McGraw finished 3-for-3 with an RBI, while
Kyle Gillispie went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Jace Parnin batted 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
Elijah Burress went 1-for-2 with three RBI, and
Bryce Wilfert batted 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI.
Nolan Austin finished 1-for-1 and
Brady Sauer went 0-for-1 with an RBI.
