Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Shawnee State (11-4, 3-0) saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday evening, falling to Pikeville 12-6 at Johnnie Lemaster Field.
The Bears opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, scoring four runs on an RBI single from
Jack Amis, a two-RBI double by
Jace Parnin and an RBI ground out by
Mason Reid.
Pikeville then scored six unanswered runs over the next three innings to lead Shawnee State 6-4 going into the fourth.
The Bears started to chip away at Pikeville's two-run lead in the fourth, as
Eli Jones drove in
Mason Reid on an RBI single to left field.
Pikeville answered with four runs in the fourth inning and added another in the fifth to take an 11-5 lead over Shawnee State after five innings.
Eli Jones collected his second RBI single of the afternoon in the sixth inning, but Pikeville answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to take a 12-6 lead over Shawnee State.
The Bears managed just one hit and did not score over the final three innings as Pikeville secured the 12-6 nonconference win.
Malik Diack took the loss for Shawnee State, allowing four runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning while walking one.
Eli Jones finished with a game-high three hits in four at-bats while driving in three runs.
Jack Amis went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Jace Parnin batted 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Diego Mendoza, Nolan Austin, Owen Elsey and Mason Reid recorded one hit apiece, with Reid driving in a run.
