Box Score 2 MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- Shawnee State (6-3, 0-0) lost its first two games of the 2026 Babe Howard Classic, falling 15-3 to Tennessee Wesleyan and 9-3 to Freed-Hardeman.
GAME ONE (Tennessee Wesleyan)
Tennessee Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the first two innings, scoring two runs in the first inning and one in the second.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the third inning,
Jace Parnin laced a bases-clearing double to right field, scoring
Zach Gaspar,
Owen Elsey and
Larry Drake to tie the game at 3.
In the top of the fourth, however, Tennessee Wesleyan scored seven runs to retake its lead over Shawnee State, 10-3.
The Bears would be held scoreless for the remainder of the game, with the Bulldogs adding five more runs in the top of the seventh to beat Shawnee State 15-3.
Owen Elsey finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base and run scored.
Byson Arthur and
Mason Reid each went 1-for-3, while Parnin also went 1-for-3, recording a double and three RBI.
Robert Martin was credited with the loss, allowing 12 hits and four runs over four innings.
GAME TWO (Freed-Hardeman)
In Shawnee State's second game of the day, the Bears trailed Freed-Hardeman 7-0 after three innings.
The Bears scored three runs in the top of the fifth, as
Jack Amis crossed the plate on a balk,
Jace Parnin scored on
Nolan Austin's RBI single and
Mason Reid came home on a defensive error.
The Lions added two more runs in the sixth and held Shawnee State scoreless for the remainder of the game to beat the Bears 9-3.
Diego Mendoza finished 2-for-4 with a double, while
Larry Drake went 1-for-4.
Nolan Austin batted 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the fifth.
Owen Elsey was tabbed with the loss for Shawnee State, allowing nine hits, three walks and six earned runs over 2 2/3 innings.
