KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The play of Shawnee State senior guard Miyoshi Ellis over the weekend certainly turned heads among all individuals within the River States Conference realm.

That proved to be no different on a national scale.

Ellis, who averaged 24.5 points, six rebounds, 4.5 assists, a steal and a block per game in a huge 2-0 week for the Bears that moved (RV) Shawnee State to 7-2 for the 2025-26 season, was named as the NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week by national officials within the NAIA after one of the most impressive individual weeks that any player across the entire NAIA realm has enjoyed this season so far.

Ellis was a dynamic playmaker and scorer through Shawnee State's road trip to Florida over Thanksgiving Weekend. Ellis put up 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block -- scoring 12 of her 23 points in a 27-6 second quarter swing by Shawnee State that led to SSU's 12-point win over Warner. 

Ellis then followed that up with an even better performance against No. 23 Southeastern, scoring 20 of her career-high 26 points in the second half, shooting 61.1 percent from the field (11-18), posting five assists, four rebounds and a block and scoring on a game-winning layup with three seconds left to hand the Fire their first loss of the 2025-26 season. Southeastern entered the contest 8-0. 

Ellis presently leads Shawnee State with averages of 15.7 points and 4.4 assists per game and is shooting 42.6 percent from the field for the 2025-26 campaign.

The NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week Award is the first of Ellis' career.
