PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Following an impressive playing career that included NAIA First Team All-American honors in 2025,
Madi Ogden is joining Shawnee State's softball staff as the team's pitching coach.
Kristen Bradshaw, Shawnee State's head softball coach said Ogden's experience and knowledge of the game will be very beneficial for the program.
"I'm extremely excited to have Madi join our staff," Bradshaw said. "Madi will bring a tremendous combination of collegiate pitching experience, knowledge of the game and a strong desire to help our pitchers reach their full potential on and off the field.
As a sophomore at Williamsburg High School, Ogden batted .700 with a state-record 85 hits, 15 home runs, and 85 RBI along with a 23-2 record in the circle. As a senior in 2021, Ogden was named Ohio Gatorate Softball Player of the Year.
Ogden began her collegiate career at NCAA Division I Morehead State in 2022, where she played through the 2023 season.
Prior to the 2024 season, Ogden transferred to Rio Grande. As a junior, Ogden slashed .393/.441/.584 with 18 doubles, five home runs and 32 RBI. In the circle, she made 33 appearances, including 28 starts, posting an 18-10 record with a 1.55 ERA and 257 strikeouts over 185 2/3 innings. Ogden earned All-River States Conference First Team honors following the season.
As a senior in 2025, Ogden elevated her performance in the circle, recording 279 strikeouts over 193 1/3 innings while posting a 0.91 ERA. She went 25-7 in 35 appearances, including 30 starts. Ogden remained productive at the plate, batting .311 with 10 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 34 RBI. She was named both River States Conference Player of the Year and River States Conference Pitcher of the Year before earning First-Team NAIA All-American honors in the postseason.
Ogden began her post-playing career in spring 2026 as an assistant softball coach at Ripley High School, where she served for one season.
