MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The River States Conference released its 2026 softball All-Conference teams Tuesday, with six Bears earning mentions.
FIRST TEAM
Earning first-team honors was
Abbie Deeds,
Sierra Dunnagan,
Sydney Skiver,
Jenna Christopher,
Gabby Adams and
Haley Myers.
Deeds, who was also named
River States Conference Softball Newcomer of the Year, led the River States Conference in wins (19), strikeouts (139) and saves (3). She finished third in ERA at 2.53. The freshman's 139 strikeouts are currently the fourth-most in a single season in Shawnee State softball history.
Sierra Dunnagan finished tied for second in the conference with 11 home runs, while driving in 46 RBI -- the second-most on the team. The junior slashed .396/.478/.727 in the regular season, and was one of four players to start in all 48 games for Shawnee State (
Jenna Christopher,
Sydney Skiver,
Gabby Adams).
Sydney Skiver hit .393 in her sophomore regular season, hitting 13 doubles and five home runs while driving in 39 RBI. Skiver's .600 slugging percentage is the second-highest on the team, only behind Dunnagan's .727.
Jenna Christopher led Shawnee State with 69 hits, 53 runs, triples (4) and a .413 batting average. Christopher also led the River States Conference with 27 stolen bases, only being caught twice (.931).
Gabby Adams finished tied for fourth in the conference in home runs (9) and fifth in RBI (49). Adams' RBI total was the highest among Shawnee State players, as the senior also led the team in doubles (22) total bases (116), while finishing second in OPS (1.180), hits (65) and slugging percentage (.725).
Haley Myers batted .368 on the season, posting the team's fourth-most hits (60) on 10 doubles and one triple while driving in 37 runs. Myers' three total strikeouts are the fewest on the team among players who appeared in at least 50% of games.
SECOND TEAM
Gabby McConnell settled into her role in Shawnee State's pitching staff as the season progressed. The sophomore posted a 4.43 ERA for the season, however, over her final six starts -- spanning 35 1/3 innings -- she recorded a 1.59 ERA, the lowest on the team during that stretch.
McConnell finished sixth in the conference in strikeouts (61) and wins (12), as she further cemented herself as one of the best in the RSC.
CHAMPION OF CHARACTER
Mackensie Bailey was named Shawnee State softball's Champion of Character.
On the season, Bailey is batting 3-for-13 with three walks, including two doubles and three RBI.
