PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State University has announced the appointment of Dewey Dailey as its new Sports Information Director, marking a key addition to the Bears athletics staff ahead of the 2025–26 academic year.

Dailey, a native of Chillicothe, Ohio, brings a strong background in journalism and sports communication to the role. A recent graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism, he joins Shawnee State after gaining experience in play-by-play broadcasting and digital media work connected to collegiate athletics.

In his new role, Dailey will oversee media relations, game coverage and communications strategy for all of Shawnee State's varsity programs. His extensive knowledge of Ohio sports, combined with a passion for storytelling and promoting athletics, is expected to boost the Bears' visibility as they transition to the NCAA Division II-aligned Mountain East Conference. 

Shawnee State Director of Athletics Gerald Cadogan welcomed Dailey to the department, saying, "we are excited for Dewey to join the team, his background and passion for athletics will be key as SSU grows."

Dailey's appointment reflects SSU's ongoing investment in professional leadership as the university grows its athletic brand and engages fans, media and recruits across the region.
