With 65 points, the women's soccer program at Shawnee State was selected to finish fifth in the 2025 River States Conference Preseason Women's Soccer Coaches Poll, as announced by the conference Thursday afternoon in a release that was put out by conference officials.
SSU, who collected 65 points in the poll, edged out Indiana-Kokomo (60 points) for the fifth and final position in the poll, while Brescia, Ky. (48 points), Midway, Ky. (37 points), Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. (35 points) and Indiana-Columbus (19 points) rounded out the top-10 in the rankings. RSC newcomer Kentucky Christian, who nabbed 10 points, capped off the poll.
The women's soccer program at Shawnee State returns four of its top-five and five out of its top-seven scorers from the 2024 season, including
Annie Coriell,
Haynna Addy,
Lucie Ashkettle,
Madison Culp and
Isabelle Riddle -- with Ashkettle, Culp and Riddle representing three of the four All-RSC recipients who are returning to the roster from 2024.
In addition to the five players mentioned above, nine additional players return from last season, including
Harlee Brand,
Whitney Dean,
Autumn Culp,
Elizabeth Brown,
Kya Edwards,
Olivia Blankenship,
Robyn Drinkwater,
Brooklyn Hawes and
Ariane Davis, while
Lucia Arbide returns from the 2023 roster after a season away from the game.
Along with the above 15 players, a total of 11 newcomers will be joining the roster, including local talents
Lexi Conkel (Minford),
Haley Hall (Greenup County),
Rachel Remy (Waverly) and
Ava Smith (Valley), three true freshmen from in-state (
Abby Kennedy,
Zoe Sanders and
Anna Sas), and four transfers, including one transfer originally from the Buckeye State (
Avery Williams) and three transfers from Texas (
Genesis Guereca), Canada (
Jelena Krpan) and Spain (
Sabina Morera Mas), respectively.
