Akanyah, Ashkettle named to River States Conference Champions of Character Team

OXFORD, Ohio -- The character and overall leadership of Shawnee State senior men's soccer player Clement Akanyah and Shawnee State junior women's soccer player Lucie Ashkettle were rewarded as the duo were each named to the River States Conference Champions of Character Team for their respective sports, as announced by the conference office last week.

Akanyah, who appeared in 48 matches with 38 starts in his three seasons in a Shawnee State uniform, accumulated four goals, two assists and 10 points during his time with the program. The senior scored a game-tying goal against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) back on Oct. 30.

Presently, Akanyah holds a 3.21 GPA in information security. He's earned 110 hours of academic credit.

Despite missing four matches during the season due to injury, Ashkettle earned Third-Team All-RSC for the third consecutive season by tying for the team lead in points (11) and leading Shawnee State in both goals (four) as well as shots (45) and shots on goal (29). The Lucasville product has tallied 13 goals, seven assists and 33 points for her Shawnee State career.

Academically, Ashkettle has also enjoyed a fantastic career academically -- as Ashkettle holds a 3.87 GPA in accounting and has already accumulated over 100 hours of academic credit as a whole.
