Cristobal Cervantes named Third-Team All-RSC

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Behind a competitive year at the top of the Shawnee State men's tennis lineup, SSU men's tennis talent Daniel Cristobal Cervantes was named as a Third-Team All-RSC honoree as announced by River States Conference officials Wednesday morning.

Cristobal Cervantes, who has played at the No. 1 doubles and either the No. 1 or No. 2 singles slot, has won four ITA-NAIA matches over the course of the season in doubles play, defeating Mount Vernon Nazarene's, Indiana-East's, Spring Arbor's and Indiana-Southeast's top doubles units.

Additionally, Cristobal Cervantes teamed with Ryan Fox to play in the Round of 32 at the ITA-NAIA Regional Championships, falling to Pikeville's top doubles unit of Juan Alzate and Ahmed Hassairi by a 7-6 (7-2) margin.

Cristobal Cervantes' Third-Team All-RSC honors comes after a season where the upperclassman rebounded from a 2024 spring season where the Mexico native battled injuries and illness to obtain accolades.

This season, Cristobal Cervantes has played in each of Shawnee State's 14 matches and, along with fellow international player Zinedine Arva Purbo, continue to be strongholds at the top of the Shawnee State men's tennis lineup.
