WOOSTER, Ohio -- The men's and women's swimming programs continued to produce strong times on the second day of the Wooster Invitational in Wooster, Ohio -- as five different swimmers, including
Abigail Bosler,
Kaylee France,
De-Nicha Lewis,
Malik Nelson and
Tony Goodwin -- all set NAIA provisional cut times to lead Shawnee State in its efforts Friday.
Bosler, who represented Shawnee State's NAIA provisional cut time in the 100 yard breaststroke, nabbed a 1:07.35 in the preliminaries to obtain her NAIA provisional cut time -- which makes her the 19th fastest swimmer in the NAIA in the event. Competing in the 100 yard backstroke, France also finished fourth -- swimming a 1:01.34 to finish over a tenth of a second under the provisional cut off time. France competed against 23 additional swimmers in the event.
Lewis, who swam in the 50 yard freestyle, swam a 2:00.68 to finish ninth out of 24 swimmers in the event -- and swam six-and-a-half tenths of a second faster than the provisional cut off time.
Swimming in the 100 yard butterfly on the men's side, Nelson and Goodwin finished sixth and 10th respectively, posting marks of 51.45 and 52.03 to finish well inside the top half of a 24-swimmer field. Nelson swam nearly seven-tenths of a second faster than the provisional cut off, while Goodwin finished over a tenth-and-a-half above the cut off time.
