BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The play of Shawnee State women's bowler
Maria Mara at the second Ohio Bowling Conference Event of 2025 led to a big payoff for the sophomore Tuesday afternoon, as Mara was named as the Mid-South Conference's Bowler of the Week as announced by conference officials from the Mid-South.
Mara, who notched a terrific 187.3 average, bowled a second game 231 and added in a 181 in her first game to ultimately tally a three-game 562 to lead the Bears. Mara's performance on Saturday was the best of her career as the sophomore hadn't bowled above 173.5 in any event prior to her three-game series on Saturday.
The sophomore from Tallmadge, Ohio placed 11th overall in the 139-bowler field, and led Shawnee State's varsity bowling squad to a sixth-place finish in the 14-team event.
Tuesday's award from the Mid-South Conference is Mara's first of the 2025 season as well as in her career.
