Shawnee State Finishes Bowling Season at USBC Sectionals

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Shawnee State women's bowling saw its season come to a close over the weekend, competing at the USBC Sectionals in Pittsburgh.

The top 80 nationally ranked teams are selected to compete in the USBC Sectionals, and Shawnee State qualified at No. 62.

The teams are then divided into four sectionals, with the top four from each advancing to the national championship.

The format for the event was all Baker games, with each team completing four 16-game blocks over two days.

Shawnee State's sectional included 17 teams, including Ohio programs such as Rio Grande, Lourdes and Muskingum.

After the first 16 Games, the Bears were in 17th place with 2,623 pins and a high game of 217.

Halfway through the event, Shawnee State moved to 16th place with 5,275 total pins (2,652 in Games 17-32).

The Bears dropped back to 17th after Games 33-48, totaling 2,448 pins in the block and 7,723 overall.

Shawnee State recorded its highest single-block pin total in Games 49-64 (2,780) but remained in 17th place with 10,503 pins.

McKendree, St. Vincent, Duquesne and Trine advanced from Shawnee State's sectional with pin totals of 12,531, 12,181, 12,089 and 11,923, respectively.
