SSU MBOWL finishes 17th in Raider Classic

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio -- The men's bowling program at Shawnee State knocked down 6,631 pins to finish 17th in the two-day Raider Classic, which was held Saturday and Sunday at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek, Ohio.

Shawnee State posted the best Baker scores among all teams in the fifth Baker game (245) and the 12th Baker contest (246), ultimately dropping 3,032 pins in the Bakers.

The Bears were led by four bowlers who posted averages above 180, including Andy Schoener, who scored a 72nd place finish in the 206-bowler field with a four-game 750 and a 187.5 average. Schoener posted a 214 in Game 1 and back-to-back 190s in Games 3 and 4. Brayden Anderson, who finished 75th with a four-game 738 and a 184.5 average. Anderson bowled a 223 in Game 1.

Blake Landers and Logan Hughes each tied for 85th place with four-game 722s, while Frank Bullins and Zach Ison tied for 90th by bowling four-game 710s.

Along with the Shawnee State varsity squad, the Shawnee State junior varsity unit finished eighth in the team standings in its own 12-team field.

The men's bowling program at Shawnee State will be back in action alongside the women's bowling program in two weeks' time when the Bears compete in the Bulldog Bash, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23 at the Galaxy Bowling and Entertainment Center in Richmond, Ky.
