Rodrigues was named head coach of the Shawnee State men's soccer program in 2024.
In his first season, Rodrigues led Shawnee State to an improved 8-8-3 record. The Bears opened the season 4-7 through their first 11 matches before closing the 2024 campaign with a 4-1-1 mark over their final six contests. In the postseason, Shawnee State earned a 3-0 victory over IU East to advance to the program's first-ever conference semifinal, where the Bears fell to Rio Grande, 7-0. Eric Green, Nikos Pontikis, Guilherme Bitencourt and Cameron Thompson were all named to the All-River States Conference Second Team, while João Coqueti Léo and Théo Cavaleiro Trindade earned Third-Team honors. Seven players earned River States Conference Scholor-Athlete honors: Carson Jenkins, Eric Green, Matt Stam, Guilherme Bitencourt, Guillermo Conejo Martin, Marco Riva and Nikos Pontikis. Green and Stam were listed on the CSC Academic All-District list.
Shawnee State posted a 7-5-5 record in 2025. The Bears opened the season with a 7-2-2 mark before going 0-3-3 over their final six matches. Toby Forsythe, Belo Bitencourt and Alfie Maynard recieved All-River States Conference Second-Team honors, while Sei Aitoku and Marco Riva were named to the Third Team. Five players earned CSC Academic All-District honors: Joan Conqueti Leo, Alfie Mayanrd, Cameron Thompson, Theo Trindade and Belo Bitencourt. Bitencourt, Maynard, Thompson and Trindade were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
PRIOR TO SHAWNEE STATE
Rodrigues began playing soccer at the age of six in Los Angeles, California, before continuing his development through youth soccer programs in Mexico and Guatemala. He later played high school soccer at Redmond High School in Redmond, Oregon, where he graduated in 1992. Rodrigues continued his playing career at Lane Community College and Central Oregon Community College before competing in semi-professional soccer in Los Angeles and New York City. He also participated in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Combine as part of a tryout with the San Jose Clash prior to the club's inaugural 1996 season.
Rodrigues' coaching career began to gain recognition through his work developing his younger brother, Michael, who became a four-year collegiate athlete and national-level player under Rodrigues' guidance. In December 2008, Rodrigues was named head coach of Portland Rain FC of the Women's Premier Soccer League, the third tier of women's soccer in the United States and Canada.
During his time with Portland Rain FC, Rodrigues guided the club to a 10-0-1 record and the 2011 Women's Premier Soccer League Northwest Conference Championship while earning Pacific 9 Co-Coach of the Year honors. His team scored 44 goals and allowed just 10 during the 11-game championship season.
Rodrigues then became Director of Soccer for Westside Metro Timbers Soccer Club, which operated in Sherwood and Beaverton, Oregon. During his four seasons with the club, he helped expand participation from three teams to 27 teams before becoming the first head coach of Eastern Oregon's men's soccer program.
In the program's inaugural season, Rodrigues guided the Mountaineers to a 7-9 overall record and a 2-0 upset victory over No. 9-ranked Corban (Ore.), the defending Cascade Collegiate Conference champion. Eastern Oregon improved to 11-6-1 in his second season, which remains the best winning percentage in program history.
Following head coaching stops at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, where he was named NJCAA Region 9 Coach of the Year in his lone season, and Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, Rodrigues joined the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer program as an assistant coach for two separate stints. During his time with the Toros, Rodrigues helped oversee a turnaround from a 4-11-1 record in 2019 to a 10-6-1 mark in 2021 while assisting with recruiting classes that went on to post a combined 15-2-5 record, finish as California Collegiate Athletic Association runners-up and rank No. 10 nationally in NCAA Division II.
In recent years, Rodrigues has also served as an academy coach and college advisory director with Capital Futbol Club in Salem, Oregon, while working as a recruiting coordinator for the NCAA Division I Loyola Marymount men's soccer program.
In addition to his extensive coaching experience across the West Coast, Rodrigues holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "B" License, United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Licenses I and II, a USSF Adult Coaching License, a United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma and a Dutch Coerver Coaching Diploma. Rodrigues' move to the Eastern United States comes from an opportunity to help elevate the Shawnee State men's soccer program and continue building on its foundation.
