GLENVILLE, W. Va. -- Shawnee State (5-9, 0-2) lost to Glenville State, 3-0, Tuesday night at the Waco Center.
Set 1
The Bears jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first set, highlighted by kills from
Camille McIntosh,
Bree Hicks and
Natalie Reida.
Glenville State fought back to tie the match, 10-10, before scoring four consecutive points to take a 14-10 lead.
Leading 17-16, the Pioneers closed the frame on a 8-0 run to win 25-16, and take a 1-0 match lead.
Set 2
Trailing 6-5 in the second set, Shawnee State rallied with a 4-0 run, highlighted by kills from Hicks and
Kaylee McInnis, to take a 9-6 lead.
The Bears held a 13-11 advantage over Glenville State before the Pioneers scored six consecutive points to take a 17-13 lead.
The Pioneers closed the set on an 8-7 run, winning the frame, 25-20, to take a 2-0 match lead.
Set 3
Shawnee State took a 6-1 advantage to begin the third set behind kills from
Katelynn Boerger, and an ace by
Kaylee McInnis.
The Bears maintained their advantage through the middle of the frame, leading Glenville State 20-16 before the Pioneers scored four unanswered points to tie the set at 20-20.
Shawnee State and Glenville State remained even until the set was tied at 26-26, when the Pioneers recorded back-to-back kills to win, 28-26, and take the match in straight sets.
Bears by the Numbers
Bree Hicks led the Bears with nine kills in the match, with
Kaylee McInnis adding eight. McInnis added a season-high five blocks.
Jalynn West dished out a team-high 25 assists.
Graci Claxon paced the team with 13 digs.
