Shawnee State Drops Conference Match, 2-0, to Charleston

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State (2-4-2, 1-2-1) lost to Charleston, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at the Shawnee Turf.

Charleston opened the scoring with a goal in the 28' to take a 1-0 lead.

Neither team scored over the final 17 minutes, sending the match to halftime with Charleston holding a 1-0 advantage

Eduardo Peña started the second half in goal for Shawnee State, recording two saves before the Golden Eagles scored in the 66' to extend their lead to 2-0.

Peña tallied two more saves over the final 24 minutes to hold Charleston scoreless, while Shawnee State did not record a shot as the Golden Eagles secured the 2-0 victory.


Bears by the Numbers

Both Floyd Watts and Eduardo Peña allowed one goal for Shawnee State, with Watts recording three saves and Peña four.

Shawnee State was held without a shot for the first time this season.
