PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State women's basketball has named Mikel Bradley its associate head coach.

DeWayne Burroughs, Shawnee State's head women's basketball coach, said Bradley's addition will bring valuable experience and energy to the program.

"I'm excited to have Mikel join our program," Burroughs said. "Her knowledge, experience, energy and commitment to developing student-athletes will be a tremendous addition to our our program."

A native of Miami Beach, Florida, Coach Bradley is a graduate of Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School and Saint Leo University.

As a high school player, Bradley started all four years spending her first two seasons at Mater Academy before finishing her final two years at Chaminade-Madonna.

During her undergraduate career at Saint Leo, Bradley spent four years working with the Saint Leo men's basketball program as head manager, gaining valuable experience in basketball operations, team travel, logistics and the many responsibilities involved in running a collegiate program.

She continued her coaching career at Mary Baldwin University, where she served as a head coach, assistant coach, and graduate assistant with the men's basketball program. Bradley also made history as the first woman to serve on the coaching staff of the Mary Baldwin men's basketball program.

Shawnee State women's basketball opens its 2026-27 season Monday, Nov. 9, against Cedarville at Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth, Ohio. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
