PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State has added Allison Basye to its women's basketball coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.

Before beginning her collegiate career, Basye attended Huntington High School, where she was a four-sport student-athlete in basketball, volleyball, track and softball. A four-year starter, she earned All-Scioto Valley Conference honors in all four sports, including four-time All-SVC recognition in both basketball and volleyball.

On the basketball court, Basye was a two-time SVC Player of the Year and two-time District Player of the Year. She was also a three-time All-Ohio selection and voted OHSBCA Division III Player of the Year as a senior.

Basye concluded her high school career as Huntington's all-time leading scorer with 2,139 points, which ranks sixth all-time in the Scioto Valley Conference. She also holds program records for most points in a game (46), most 3-pointers in a game (seven), most points in a season (697), most consecutive free throws made (26), highest single-season field goal percentage (48%) and most varsity starts and games played.

Basye committed to continue her basketball career at Northern Kentucky, where she played in 11 games as a freshman during the 2022-23 season.

As a sophomore during the 2023-24 season, Basye appeared in 24 games with eight starts, averaging 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Following her junior season at Northern Kentucky, Basye received the 2025 Athletic Training Room Award after spending the season sidelined due to injury. The award recognized her dedication, commitment and perseverance throughout her rehabilitation and return to competition.

Basye transferred to Detroit Mercy for her senior season, appearing in five games with one start, averaging 4.6 points per game.

Throughout her collegiate career, Basye distinguished herself both academically and athletically. She was a three-time member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and was selected to the 2025-26 Detroit Mercy Athletic Director's Honor Roll. During her senior season at Detroit Mercy, she received the Dean's Honor Certificate and was also named to the President's List in recognition of her academic achievement.

Basye graduated from Detroit Mercy in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

DeWayne Burroughs, Shawnee State's head women's basketball coach, said Basye's playing experience and familiarity with Southern Ohio will make her an outstanding addition to his staff.

"Allison is a proud Southern Ohio native who understands what basketball means to this community," Burroughs said. "Allison has experienced this area as a player, and now she has the opportunity to give back and help develop the next generation of young women."

Shawnee State women's basketball opens its 2026-27 season Monday, Nov. 9, against Cedarville at Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth, Ohio. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
