Box Score 2 WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- Shawnee State (32-12, 25-7) suffered its second two-game series sweep of the season on Tuesday, dropping both games to No. 18 Cumberlands.
GAME 1
Cumberlands' Grace Ross hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.
The Patriots added on in the third with an RBI single to lead Shawnee State 2-0.
Sydney Skiver drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the sixth to cut Cumberlands' lead to 2-1.
The Patriots scored in the sixth to make it 3-1, and held the Bears scoreless in the seventh to secure the series opener.
Abbie Deeds took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits and five walks over six innings.
Sierra Dunnagan went 2-for-3, while
Haley Myers and
Keegan Uhl each finished 1-for-3.
GAME 2
Cumberlands started the scoring in Game 2 with an RBI single to get ahead 1-0.
The Patriots extended their lead to 2-0 in the fourth.
Gabby Adams got Shawnee State on the board in the sixth with a solo home run, her ninth of the season.
The Bears were retired in order in the seventh inning as Cumberlands held on for the 2-1 victory, completing the series sweep over Shawnee State.
Gabby McConnell was credited with the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings.
Gabby Adams went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.
Keegan Uhl and
Lexie Lockwood both batted 1-for-3 with a double, while
Haley Myers finished 1-for-4 with a double.
Sydney Skiver went 1-for-3.
