Box Score 2 MIDWAY, Ky. -- Shawnee State (27-9, 20-6) completed a perfect weekend Saturday with a two-game sweep of Midway.
The Bears are second in the River States Conference standings, behind Oakland City (31-11, 15-3), which they host Friday.
GAME 1
Keegan Uhl started the scoring for Shawnee State with an RBI single in the second inning, putting the Bears ahead 1-0.
Shawnee State scored four runs in the third, highlighted by a two-RBI double from
Gabby Adams and an RBI single by
Sydney Skiver.
Gabby Adams scored on a defensive error on Skiver's single to give the Bears a 5-0 lead over Midway.
The Eagles scored a run in the third and fourth innings, cutting Shawnee State's lead to 5-2 going into the fifth.
Sierra Dunnagan recorded an RBI fielder's choice and
Gabby Adams hit a two-RBI double in the sixth, extending the Bears' lead to 7-2.
Shawnee State scored three insurance runs in the seventh as
Keegan Uhl and
Jenna Christopher scored on defensive errors, and
Haley Myers added an RBI single to right field.
Laci Delauder held Midway scoreless in the bottom of the inning to secure the 10-2 win for the Bears.
Abbie Deeds earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over six innings while striking out five.
Gabby Adams went 4-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI.
Jenna Christopher,
Kennedy Davis,
Emily Moore and
Haley Myers all finished 2-for-4, with Myers recording an RBI.
Sydney Skiver and
Keegan Uhl each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Sierra Dunnagan went 0-for-2 and drove in a run.
GAME 2
Lexie Lockwood scored on a defensive error in the third inning to start the scoring for Shawnee State, before
Sierra Dunnagan launched a three-run homer to give the Bears a 4-0 lead.
Midway responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the Bears' lead to 4-1.
Gabby Adams hit a solo home run in the fifth, extending Shawnee State's advantage to 5-1.
Midway scored four in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.
Sydney Skiver hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh to momentarily give Shawnee State a 6-5 lead, before Midway tied the game at 6-6 with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.
Morgan Christopher hit a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning to put the Bears ahead 7-6.
Abbie Deeds held Midway scoreless in the eighth inning to complete the series sweep of the Eagles.
Deeds also earned the win, her second of the day, allowing one run on two hits over two innings while striking out four.
Jenna Christopher went 3-for-4 with a double, and
Sierra Dunnagan batted 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Morgan Christopher finished 2-for-3 with the game-winning RBI single in the eighth.
Lexie Lockwood and
Sydney Skiver went 1-for-3, with Skiver driving in a run.
Gabby Adams batted 1-for-4 with a solo home run, whileÂ
