Box Score 2 COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Shawnee State (25-9, 18-6) bounced back Friday with a two-game sweep of IU Columbus.
The Bears swept the season series against IU Columbus, outscoring the Crimson Pride 46-14 in four games.
GAME 1
Shawnee State scored four runs in the first inning as
Sydney Skiver hit a two-RBI single and
Kennedy Davis drove in two runs on a double.
Keegan Uhl and
Haley Myers scored on passed balls in the second inning, putting the Bears ahead 6-0.
Shawnee State scored seven runs in the third, highlighted by two-RBI singles by
Keegan Uhl and
Haley Myers, a two-RBI fielder's choice from
Gabby Adams and an RBI double by
Sydney Skiver.
IU Columbus was held scoreless through the fifth inning, which triggered the eight-run mercy rule and ended the game after five innings 13-0.
Abbie Deeds earned the win, throwing four shutout innings on one hit and two walks while striking out three.
Haley Myers and
Sydney Skiver each went 3-for-3 with a double. Skiver drove in three runs and Myers drove in two.
Keegan Uhl finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and
Kennedy Davis batted 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Lexie Lockwood went 1-for-2 and
Hailee Bay finished 1-for-1.
Alayna Davenport recorded her first collegiate hit, a double in her lone plate appearance in the fifth.
Gabby Adams went 0-for-2, but drove in two runs.
GAME 2
Sierra Dunnagan slugged a two-run homer in the first inning of Game 2 to put the Bears ahead 2-0.
The Crimson Pride answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to lead Shawnee State 3-2 after one.
Jenna Christopher recorded an RBI groundout in the second to tie the game at 3-3.
Later in the frame,
Sierra Dunnagan hit a three-run homer, her second in as many innings, to give Shawnee State a 6-3 advantage.
IU Columbus scored twice in the bottom of the inning to cut the Bears' lead to 6-5.
Sydney Skiver and
Jenna Christopher hit RBI singles in the fourth and fifth innings, extending Shawnee State's lead to 8-5.
Lily Culp hit a two-run homer for IU Columbus in the bottom of the inning, cutting the Crimson Pride's deficit to 8-7.
Abbie Deeds recorded a three-inning shutout save as the Bears held on for the 8-7 victory.
Jenna Christopher went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and
Lexie Lockwood finished 2-for-3.
Sierra Dunnagan batted 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI. The junior leads Shawnee State with nine home runs this season. She's also the only player to hit two home runs in a single game this season.
Haley Myers went 1-for-4, and
Gabby Adams,
Sydney Skiver and
Morgan Christopher each finished 1-for-3. Skiver drove in a run in the fourth.
