Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Ky. -- Shawnee State (6-4, 3-1) split a pair of games with Brescia Sunday afternoon, dropping its first conference game in the process.
The Bears are now 5-0 in the first game of doubleheaders, but 1-4 in second games.
GAME ONE
Shawnee State opened the scoring in Sunday's first game as
Gabby Adams came around to score on a Brescia defensive error in the second inning.
Both teams remained scoreless until the sixth inning, when Brescia tied the game at 1-1 on a sacrifice fly by Emma Kate Elrod.
The Bears answered in a big way the following inning, scoring four runs in the top of the seventh.
Shawnee State scoring barrage was highlighted by
Gabby Adams' two-RBI double, an RBI double from
Sydney Skiver and an RBI single by
Emily Moore.
Abbie Deeds held the Bearcats scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to secure the Bears' 5-1 victory.
Deeds earned the win for Shawnee State, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings while striking out 12 and walking three.
Gabby Adams and
Emily Moore each went 2-for-4, with Adams recording a two-RBI double and Moore an RBI single.
Jenna Christopher went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, while
Sydney Skiver batted 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
Keegan Uhl,
Lexie Lockwood and
Haley Myers recorded one hit apiece.
GAME TWO
Neither team scored until the fifth inning, when Brescia plated two runs to take a 2-0 lead over Shawnee State.
The Bears answered with three runs in the sixth, highlighted by an
Emily Moore RBI single and a two-RBI double from
Kennedy Davis.
Brescia scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to lead Shawnee State 5-3.
The Bears were held scoreless in the top of the seventh, as Brescia earned its fifth win of the season.
Laci Delauder took the loss for Shawnee State, allowing two runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning while walking one.
Haley Myers and
Gabby Adams each recorded a pair of singles, while
Kennedy Davis went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Jenna Christopher and
Sierra Dunnagan each went 1-for-4, with the trio of
Emily Moore,
Kennedy Davis and
Morgan Christopher going 1-for-3. Moore also drove in a run.
