Box Score 2 JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- Shawnee State (5-3, 2-0) swept its first series of the season Friday evening, taking a pair of games from IU Southeast.
GAME ONE
Gabby Adams put the Bears ahead 3-0 in the first inning with a three-run home run, her third of the season.
Shawnee State added three more runs in the third inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Adams, a sacrifice fly by
Kennedy Davis and an RBI single by
Sierra Dunnagan.
The Bears scored six runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by
Sierra Dunnagan and
Lexie Lockwood, an RBI walk by
Emily Moore and a three-run double by
Kennedy Davis to take a 12-0 lead.
Gabby Adams drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning, followed by an RBI double by
Mackensie Bailey to extend the Bears' lead to 14-0
The Grenadiers were held scoreless in the bottom of the inning, ending the game due to the run rule.
Abbie Deeds earned the win, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out five and walking four.
Sierra Dunnagan and
Sydney Skiver each had three hits to lead all batters, while Dunnagan added an RBI in the third inning.
Gabby Adams finished 2-for-4 with a home run, double and five RBI.
Kennedy Davis and
Lexie Lockwood each went 1-for-3, with Davis adding a double and four RBIÂ and Lockwood driving in a run.
Haley Myers went 1-for-3 and
Mackensie Bailey had an RBI double in her lone plate appearance.
GAME TWO
The Bears continued to dominate offensively, building a 6-0 lead through the first three innings.
Emily Moore and
Lexie Lockwood each drove in a run in the second inning, while
Jenna Christopher drove in two on a double to left-center in the third.
Kennedy Davis was walked in the third to score
Gabby Adams, and
Sydney Skiver followed with a run on a fielder's choice to give the Bears a 6-0 lead.
IU Southeast scored four runs in the fourth inning to cut Shawnee State's lead to 6-4.
The Bears added two runs in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI single from
Emily Moore and a sacrifice fly by
Morgan Christopher.
Sydney Skiver and
Emily Moore each homered in the seventh inning, Skiver with a solo shot and Moore with a two-run homer, to give Shawnee State an 11-4 lead.
Gabby McConnell held IU Southeast scoreless in the bottom of the inning to secure the Bears' series sweep of the Grenadiers.
McConnell earned the win, allowing four unearned runs on six hits while striking out two batters walking one.
Emily Moore led the game with three hits and four RBI, along with her first home run of the season.
Jenna Christopher went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI, while
Gabby Adams batted 2-for-4 with a double.
Sydney Skiver and
Kennedy Davis each finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, with Skiver hitting her second home run of the season.
Sierra Dunnagan went 1-for-4 and
Haley Myers batted 1-for-5.
