Box Score 2 OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -- Shawnee State (13-5, 8-2) and Oakland City, which entered Friday tied for first place in the River States Conference at 7-1, remain tied at 8-2 after splitting a doubleheader.
GAME ONE
After falling behind 2-0 through three innings, Shawnee State scored three runs in the fourth to take its first lead of the series.
Sydney Skiver and
Sierra Dunnagan both scored on the same error to tie the game at 2-2 before
Lexie Lockwood drove in the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice.
In the fifth, Oakland City scored three more runs to take a 5-3 lead over Shawnee State going into the sixth.
Oakland City's Grace Butcher kept the Bears scoreless in the final two innings to give the Mighty Oaks a 5-3 win and a temporary lead in the RSC regular-season standings.
Abbie Deeds took the loss for Shawnee State, allowing five runs on nine hits and three walks over seven innings while striking out one.
Sydney Skiver went 2-for-2 with a double, while
Jenna Christopher batted 1-for-4.
Gabby Adams and
Kennedy Davis each finished 1-for-3 with a double, while
Lexie Lockwood went 0-for-3 with an RBI.
GAME TWO
Gabby Adams got the Bears going early in Friday's second game, as the senior doubled to score
Jenna Christopher.
Oakland City answered with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning, leaving the game tied 1-1 after the first.
The Bears scored five runs in the third inning, highlighted by
Emily Moore,
Sydney Skiver and
Gabby Adams scoring on a fielding error by Oakland City's right fielder,Â
Sierra Dunnagan blasting a solo home run, her fifth of the season, and an RBI single by
Keegan Uhl.
Shawnee State led Oakland City 6-1 after three.
The Bears added two more runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by
Sydney Skiver and an RBI fielder's choice by
Emily Moore.
Oakland City scored three in the fourth and two in the sixth; however, it wasn't enough as the Bears held on for the 8-6 win over the Mighty Oaks.
Gabby McConnell earned the win, allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks over 3 1/3 innings.
Abbie Deeds earned her first collegiate save, striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh to keep the Bears atop the RSC standings.
Keegan Uhl went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and
Sierra Dunnagan finished 1-for-4 with a solo homer in the third.
Haley Myers,
Sydney Skiver and
Emily Moore each batted 1-for-3, with Skiver and Moore recording RBI.
Gabby Adams finished 1-for-2 with an RBI double and
Kennedy Davis went 1-for-2 with three RBI.
