Box Score 2 SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Shawnee State (2-2, 0-0) remained at .500 on the season Sunday, splitting a pair of games with Spartanburg Methodist.
GAME ONE
Sierra Dunnagan got the party started for Shawnee State, as the junior from Wilton, California, hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.
The Pioneers added a run in the bottom of the first, before Shawnee State pushed its lead to 3-1 on an RBI ground out by
Lexie Lockwood.
Gabby Adams hit a two-run home run in the third inning, followed by a
Kennedy Davis solo homer in the fourth to give the Bears a 6-1 lead over Spartanburg Methodist.
Abbie Deeds held the Pioneers scoreless the rest of the way, securing a 6-1 win for Shawnee State.
Deeds earned the win, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings while striking out six batters.
Sierra Dunnagan went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the first inning, while
Kennedy Davis and
Lexie Lockwood each went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Davis' RBI came from her solo home run in the fourth.
Gabby Adams finished 1-for-3 with a two-RBI homer, while
Emily Moore and
Haley Myers each batted 1-for-3. Moore added a double in the second.
Jenna Christopher went 1-for-4.
GAME TWO
The Bears struck first in the opening inning when
Jenna Christopher scored on a Spartanburg Methodist throwing error, but fell behind in the bottom half as the Pioneers scored five runs to take a 5-1 lead.
Shawnee State scored three runs in the fifth, keyed by an RBI single from
Haley Myers and a two-run homer by
Gabby Adams.
Spartanburg Methodist extended its lead to 6-4 in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Jacie Ross.
Sierra Dunnagan homered in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough as Shawnee State fell 6-5 to the Pioneers.
Gabby McConnell took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits over six innings while striking out one batter.
Jenna Christopher finished 3-for-4, while
Gabby Adams and
Emily Moore each went 1-for-3. Adams added a two-run home run.
Sierra Dunnagan went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and
Emily Moore went 1-for-3
