Box Score 2 WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State (12-4, 7-1) extended its winning streak to six games Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader from Midway.
GAME ONE
The series opener between Shawnee State and Midway remained scoreless through the first 3 1/2 innings as
Abbie Deeds held the Eagles scoreless through the top of the fourth.
Emily Moore broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single, giving the Bears a 1-0 advantage.
Midway answered in the top of the fifth as Molly Wooldridge ripped a two-RBI single to right center, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Kennedy Davis drove in two runs on a single to left field, putting the Bears ahead 3-2 entering the seventh.
Abbie Deeds held the Eagles scoreless in the top of the seventh to secure the 3-2 win.
Deeds was credited win the win, allowing zero earned runs on seven hits and two walks across seven innings while striking out five.
Gabby Adams went 2-for-3 with a double and
Keegan Uhl batted 2-for-2 with a pair of singles.
Jenna Christopher and
Emily Moore each finished 1-for-2, with Moore adding an RBI.
Lexie Lockwood,
Sierra Dunnagan and
Kennedy Davis each went 1-for-3, with Davis recording two RBI.
GAME TWO
The scoring came early and often in Saturday's second game as Shawnee State scored nine runs over the first two innings.
The Bears plated four in the first, highlighted by a two-RBI single by
Gabby Adams and a pair of RBI walks from
Lexie Lockwood and
Morgan Christopher.
In the second,
Emily Moore drove in two with a double to left-center and
Keegan Uhl hit her first collegiate home run, a three-run blast.
Midway scored its first run in the third inning but still trailed Shawnee State 9-1.
Emily Moore hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to extend the Bears' lead to 11-1.
The Eagles added two runs in the top of the fifth, but their rally wasn't enough as Shawnee State held on for an 11-3 win in five innings.
Gabby McConnell earned the win, allowing one earned run on five hits and walk over four innings while striking out three.
Jenna Christopher and
Emily Moore each went 2-for-3, with Moore adding a home run and four RBI.
Gabby Adams went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI.
Sydney Skiver and
Keegan Uhl each finished 1-for-2, with Uhl hitting a three-run homer in the second inning.
Sierra Dunnagan drew two walks and scored two runs, while
Kiera Heath and
Haley Hawes also scored.
