Box Score 2 WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State (10-4, 5-1) collected a pair of lopsided wins over IU Columbus on Friday, beating the Crimson Pride 12-4 and 13-3.
GAME ONE
The Bears started fast and early on Friday, plating four runs in the opening inning.
Haley Myers singled to drive in
Jenna Christopher before coming around to score on a wild pitch.
Gabby Adams later scored on a fielder's choice, and
Keegan Uhl drew an RBI walk to extend Shawnee State's first-inning lead to 4-0.
The Bears added on in the second as
Emily Moore hit an two-RBI triple to center field and later scored on a wild pitch, giving Shawnee State a 7-0 lead after two innings.
IU Columbus began to battle back in the fourth, scoring four runs to cut the Bears' lead to 7-4.
Shawnee State quickly responded in the fifth with five runs, highlighted by
Lexie Lockwood scoring on a defensive error,
Keegan Uhl crossing the plate on a passed ball,
Sierra Dunnagan hitting a two-RBI single to center field and
Gabby Adams doubling to left to score Dunnagan.
The Bears' 12-4 lead ended the game after five innings due to the mandatory mercy rule.
Abbie Deeds got the win, allowing four runs on seven hits over five innings while striking out six and walking three.
Sierra Dunnagan and
Emily Moore each went 2-for-3 with two RBI, with Dunnagan adding a double and Moore legging out a triple.
Gabby Adams went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while
Haley Myers went 1-for-3 with a run batted in.
Lexie Lockwood,
Keegan Uhl and
Hailee Bay each had one hit, with Bay recording her first double of the season.
GAME TWO
Similar to game one, the Shawnee State's offense came out strong early.
The Bears scored three runs in the first as
Sierra Dunnagan and
Emily Moore each singled, with Dunnagan driving in one and Moore two.
IU Columbus scored its only three runs of the game in the second to momentarily tie the game at 3-3.
The game's even score was short-lived, as the Bears saw eight runs cross the plate in the bottom of the inning.
Haley Myers hit a two-RBI single to right field,
Sierra Dunnagan hit a two-run homer to left field,
Lexie Lockwood singled to score
Gabby Adams and
Morgan Christopher hit a sacrifice fly that scored three.
Dunnagan's home run was her fourth of the season, tied for the team lead with
Gabby Adams.
In the bottom of the third,
Gabby Adams doubled to left-center, scoring two and giving Shawnee State a 13-3 lead over IU Columbus.
Laci Delauder held the Crimson Pride scoreless in the top of the fourth, ending the game after 4 1/2 innings via the mercy rule.
Gabby McConnell earned the win, allowing three runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings while striking out two and walking one.
Jenna Christopher and
Gabby Adams each went 2-for-3, with Adams adding two RBI.
Jenna Christopher legged out a double and both of Adams' hits were doubles.
Emily Moore and
Haley Myers each finished 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Sierra Dunnagan went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, and
Morgan Christopher batted 1-for-1 with three RBI.
Sydney Skiver and
Lexie Lockwood each recorded an RBI single.
