Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Behind a Senior Day celebration, Shawnee State (19-7, 10-4) delivered a complete performance in an 82-36 win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
The Bears trailed the Pomeroys 6-4 two-and-a-half minutes into the first quarter, but closed the period on a 15-0 run to take a 19-6 lead into the second.
Shawnee State extended its lead in the second quarter, outscoring Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 28-6 to take a 47-12 advantage into halftime.
Emily Maynard and
Miyoshi Ellis, the two active seniors for Shawnee State, led the team in first-half scoring with nine and eight points, respectively.
The Pomeroys scored 19 points in the third quarter -- more than in the other three quarters combined -- but still trailed the Bears 62-31 entering the fourth.
Shawnee State outpaced Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 20-5 in the final frame to secure the 82-36 win.
Laken Williams led the Bears in scoring with 17 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the field, 2-of-4 from three-point range and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Williams has scored 11 or more points in six straight games, and in seven of the last eight.
Miyoshi Ellis finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while
Emily Maynard scored nine points and collected three steals.
Ra'Khyia Prince,
TK Catchings and
Giavonnie Belton each tallied seven points, with the duo of
Kyla Torok and
Jaden Tucker adding six points apiece.
Torok grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, marking her seventh double-digit rebounding performance of the season.
