SMYRNA, Tenn. -- The men's bowling program at Shawnee State competed in two events held through the Mid-South Conference ranks Saturday and Sunday, with the Bears finishing 11th in the PBA Greater Nashville Open on Saturday and 13th in the Brandon Burns Classic on Sunday.
On Saturday,
Graham Copley led Shawnee State by bowling a four-game 813, placing 34th in the field of 187 participants. Copley dropped 201 pins in Game 1 and 246 pins in Game 4 to ultimately accrue a four-game average of 203 pins.

Jaylen Sumler and
Blake Landers (60th and 66th) tallied pin counts of 746 and 732 to find their way well inside the top half of the field. Sumler dropped 192 pins in Game 2, 214 pins in Game 4 and finished with a 187-pin average per game, while Landers, who dropped 192 pins in Game 3, posted a 183-pin average.
In Sunday's event, Landers led the way as the junior finished 33rd, nabbing a four-game 819 to lead the Bears. Landers closed in a strong fashion as the Coal Grove graduate bowled a 206 in Game 3 followed by a 252 in Game 4.
Following Landers, Shawnee State's
Zach Ison knocked down 788 pins, posting a four-game 197 average on the strength of a Game 1 202 and a Game 4 227, while
Jaylen Sumler dropped 783 pins for a 196-pin average as the duo finished 55th and 60th, respectively.
The men's bowling program will return to action alongside the women's bowling program Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9 when the two programs head to participate in the two-day Raider Classic.
