The baseball program at Shawnee State dropped a 7-6 decision to Miami-Hamilton Tuesday evening in a road contest that was held in Hamilton, Ohio.
Shawnee State got a two-out double from Eric Oakes and an RBI base knock by Landon McGraw to take a 1-0 advantage, and after a leadoff walk by Ryan Scott in the second inning of play, Eli Jones brought Scott in with an RBI base knock to push the lead to 2-0 after two innings of work.
After Luis Meija scored in the fourth inning of play, a single by Dylan Driskill and walks by Meija and Eli Jones allowed Driskill to score in the fifth on a passed ball while Meija and Jones advanced to second and third. Nolan Tressler then cleared the bases on his two-RBI double to center field.
James Bodrock, Brock Kitchen and Ryan Scott combined to throw for the Bears. The duo only gave up three earned runs and Bodrock, who got the start, struck out four in four-and-a-third innings of work before yielding to Kitchen and then Scott, who gave up four hits but no earned runs between them. Shawnee State committed three defensive errors which proved to be costly in the setback.
Shawnee State (10-14) will play a 2 p.m. contest against Georgetown Wednesday afternoon at Branch Rickey Park.
