Smash Bros. Sweeps Davenport

In an exciting match last week for the NACE season, SSU Smash Bros. defeated Davenport in a 2 – 0 sweep. The Bears remain undefeated for the spring season.

Game one was an epic 6 – 0 win for the squad. They were led by Desmond Craft (gamertag: EchoForce) as Joker. The junior nabbed five stocks before being eliminated. Entering second was sophomore Christopher Mowery (gamertag: SpaceMiner) on his signature Toon Link. He took six stocks from his opponents, including a streak of four in a row before losing one of his own. With only one remaining on Davenport's side, Noah Dean (gamertag: King) entered third as Wii Fit Trainer to clean up the first round without conceding another stock.

The second game was much closer for the squad, who won with only two stocks remaining. Craft led the charge once again on Joker, clearing three stocks before falling. Following him was Mowery, whose Toon Link took four stocks this time before he was eliminated. Dean's Wii Fit Trainer play claimed four more stocks, leaving one remaining in Davenport's bank. Simon Rhodes (gamertag: BIRD_) entered for the first time this match and conceded a stock before claiming the win.

The Bears are now 5 – 0 for the spring season. The squad was awarded a win alongside the rest of their regional pool after this week's opponent, Lindenwood, was disqualified for the season. Smash Bros. will return next week with another NACE match. They take on Purdue Fort Wayne beginning at 7:00 on March 7.
