Tuesday night, SSU Overwatch took on the Akron Zips in NACE season play. Despite their efforts, they were swept in an 0 – 3 loss.
Game one took the squad to Arctic Peninsula for their first loss. Gaberiel Martinson (gamertag: Happy) earned top outgoing damage for the Bears, with 9,684 to his credit. The tank player also earned top mitigation overall, credited with 5,891 as Ramattra. This was followed by another member of the SSU squad, Zach Smith (gamertag: zsmitty2020) who mitigated 4,056 as Mei. Top overall eliminations went to Benjamin Palmieri (gamertag: Bas1lisk) who had 23. Logan Betz (gamertag: DotBetz) claimed the top healing spot with 13,148.
The second game was on the classic King's Row map, where the Bears took their second loss. Leading overall in outgoing damage was Martinson, who totaled 15,442. Palmieri led the Bears on eliminations, with 32 to his credit. The support duo of Betz and Zach Ellis (gamertag: FireRaptor) nearly tied on top assists, with Betz having 24 and Ellis earning 23.
The final loss was a difficult game on Suravasa. Betz earned top eliminations and healing for the Bears, with seven eliminations and 5,635 healing. Martinson earned top overall mitigation with 4,324.
Overwatch looks to their final NACE regular season match against North Carolina State on March 12. The action starts at 7:00 PM.
