Shawnee State Volleyball welcomed in the Eagles of Alice Lloyd College for a River States Conference matchup. The Bears dominated the Eagles taking three straight sets.
The first set started and in a blink of an eye, Shawnee State jumped out to an early lead. SSU got a 3-0 lead, in the first set after back-to-back kills from Bethany Colling and a service ace from Regan Lewis. The Eagles scored two points and it looked like the game was going to be a battle, but the Bears sent Ava Jenkins to the service line. Jenkins served 11 straight times, with errors by ALC, kills from Gretchen Chaney, Haidyn Wamsley, and Colling, and one service ace. After one point scored by the Eagles, Shawnee scored the final nine points of the set claiming the first set.
The second and third set was nothing but extraordinary for the Bears. They limited the Eagle's runs through the two sets only allowing them no more than three points in a row. SSU went on runs of their own. Eight different Bears nabbed a kill against Alice Llyod and ten blocks in total in their first conference win of the season.
The Bears will be back in action this Friday, September 22, as they travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to take on the Pioneers of Point Park University. The match will start at 7 PM.
