The Shawnee State Men's Soccer opened their season against The Warriors of Rochester University at the Shawnee State Turf. The Bears would fall in a tough game by the minimum difference of 1-0 against The Warriors.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle with both teams having shots and saves, Nikos Pontikis had the first shot of the game at the 39-second mark but was saved by the Warrior's keeper. The Bears had five shots, two corners, and three saves. While Rochester had five shots, four corners, and two saves. It was a tough first half with a total of ten opportunities to score for both teams and no goals.
The second half starts and at the 47-minute Rochester gets the first yellow of the game for Dmitar Stankovic. In the second half, the feel of the game turned and felt like a conference match, both teams would receive 6 yellow cards in total. At minute 55 the Bears have a goal opportunity when Matheus Camargo takes the shot but hits the post. The only goal scored in the game comes at the minute 69, by Rochester Nemanja Adamovic, assisted by Ellis Jones. The Bears had one last chance with a free kick but the time was out before they could score and fell 1-0 to the Warriors.
The Bears will be back in action this Saturday, August 26 at the Shawnee Turf against Campbellsville University at 5 P.M.
