The Shawnee State men's soccer team traveled to Indiana to face the Red Wolves of IU East. The Bears brought home a win with two goals from Fernando De Ornelas.
SSU came out hot and started the first half with a shot from Joao Toledo that hit the post in the fifth minute. During the next 35 minutes, the Bears tried to find the back of the net with three shots saved by the Red Wolves keeper. Only five minutes before the first half ended, Fernando De Ornelas found the back of the net on a rebounded ball that ended on his feet inside the area. Shawnee took the lead in the game clock struck zero, ending the first half.
The second half started off and the Red Wolves found the equalizer in the 64th minute from a penalty kick. One minute later, Fernando De Ornelas scored the second goal for the Bears which secured the win for the team. The keeper for the Bears, Eric Green, had 6 saves that helped the team come out victorious.
The Bears will host Oakland City in the Shawnee turf on Saturday at 6 p.m.
