Bears Take Two From Red Storm

Tuesday afternoon Shawnee State took the short trip to their rival Rio Grande in a doubleheader for mid-week action. The Bears would take both games from the Red Storm.

Game 1

The Bears would score first after a sac fly from Noah Sniadach, which would score Howie Rodriguez. The Bears would get a solid performance from their pitching staff, allowing the offense to go to work. After a back and forth few innings, the Bears would tie the game at five after a two-run homer from Jacob Kline. All tied up going into the top of the ninth inning, Kline would score and give SSU the victory 7-6 in extra innings.

Game 2

SSU would start hot in game 2, scoring three runs in the first inning, all from a towering blast from Kline. The two teams would once again go back and forth on the scoreboard. Roberto Bavis would double in the top of the fifth inning, which would score Kline. In the next inning, Javier Santiago would single down the left-field line, scoring the go-ahead run. This put the Bears up 5-4 and SSU would come away with the victory after the game was called due to lighting issues.

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, as they travel to take on Miami-Hamilton. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 PM.
