This afternoon, Shawnee State traveled up to Akron University to take on the Zips in mid-week, non-conference action. The Bears would fall to the Zips 7-3 in a nine-inning game.
The Bears would jump out to an early lead after a rough start for the Zip right-hander. After two walks and two singles, Jacob Heighton would score off of a Scott Herrmann single to left-field. The Bears would go cold for the next six innings unable to get anything going off of the right-hander as he would settle in. Shawnee State pitchers would keep Akon in check for the majority of the game, limiting them to only stack multiple runs in an inning three times. While keeping the Bear's offense cold the Zips would seal the 7-3 victory.
The Bears will be back in action on March 30, at 1 PM, as they are back at home against West Virginia Tech for another mid-week game.
