Softball Continues Winning Ways at Myrtle Beach Classic

North Myrtle Beach, SC – The Shawnee State Bears sweep day 4 in the games at the Myrtle Beach Classic as they move to 7-1 on the season.

Game One:

Score: SSU: 8, Lincoln College: 0

McKenzie Whittaker (SR/McDermott, Ohio) would start for the Bears for the fourth day in a row as they would face Lincoln College for the second time in the Myrtle Beach Classic. Whittaker would collect another complete game for the Bears as she would go onto to shut out the Lynx.

The Bears would pick up an early run in the second, but the third inning is where the Bears would capitalize. Ashtyn Saunders (JR/Lancaster, Ohio) would reach off an error and later score off Stacy Trenholm (SO/Lancaster, Ohio)'s double. Marisa Brown (SR/Liberty Township, Ohio) would hit a double for herself to score Trenholm from second base. Paige Oldham (FR/Shelbyville, Kentucky) would single next at bat as she and Brown would later score in the inning. In the fourth, the Bears would score two more runs and score their eightieth and final run in the sixth inning as the Bears would go on to defeat Lincoln College.

Game One:

Score: SSU: 5, Ohio Christian University: 4

Paige Oldham started for the Bears for the fourth day in a row as she looked to copy her performance from the day before as she threw a no-hitter against Pennsylvania College of Technology. Oldham ended up completing the game with allowing three earned runs on eight hits.

The Bears started the game hot as the would go on to collect four of their five runs in the first inning. Ashtyn Saunders kicked things off with a single and would later score off Stacy Trenholm's double. Marisa Brown would then single followed by Oldham's double to score Trenholm. Brown and Oldham would both score later in the inning. In the fourth, Gracie Keplinger (FR/Georgetown, Ohio) would single and later score off of Aleeya Adkins (FR/South Shore, Kentucky)' single that would score the Bears their fifth and final run to end the game in victory against Ohio Christian University.

Softball Returns to action on Thursday, Continuing their spirng break trip at Myrtle Beach against Silver Lake and Norwich University at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm.
