PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Tennis) – The Shawnee State tennis squad won just one game in the final match of the year, dropping a 9-0 contest with Campbellsville University on Thursday at the Dr. William E. Daehler Tennis Center.
Amidst the loss, Adriana Johnson took the lone game victory, winning the first game of the second set versus Sara Coffman. Johnson was defeated, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Kendi Kistler (SO/Chillicothe, Ohio) took a 6-0, 6-0 defeat at No. 1 singles to Bolor Enkhbayar, as did Katy Singer (FR/Lucasville, Ohio) at No. 2 singles verus Majella Nobile. Caleigh O'Neil (FR/Greenup, Ky.) and Mara McGee (SO/Baltimore, Ohio) each had the same fate at Nos. 3 and 4 singles respectively.
The duos of Kistler and O'Neil – at No. 1 doubles – and Singer and Johnson – at No. 2 doubles – were much of the same fate as each pair dropped 8-0 bouts. The Bears were defeated via walkovers at both No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Shawnee State now moves on to the Mid-South Conference Championships, squaring off against No. 3 Lindsey Wilson in the quarterfinal round in Bowling Green, Ky. The Blue Raiders are the top seed in the tournament. The match is set for a 12:30 p.m. start on April 23.
