SSU closes season with loss to Lindsey Wilson

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Tennis) – The Shawnee State tennis team closed the 2016 campaign on Saturday, falling at the hands of No. 3 Lindsey Wilson, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-South Conference Championships at Kereiakes Park.

The Blue Raiders took command during doubles play, earning 8-0 victories in each of the three contests. At No. 1, the No. 8 duo of Henar Munoz and Natalia Kattah dispatched of Molly Richards (FR/Washington Courthouse, Ohio) and Caleigh O'Neil (FR/Greenup, Ky.). No. 24 Jessica King and Fiona Curty knocked off Mara McGee (SO/Baltimore, Ohio) and Kiersten McGraw (FR/New Boston, Ohio), as well. Finally, Jenny Campbell (SO/Chillicothe, Ohio) and Maddie Woodard (SO/Camden, Ohio) were beat in No. 3 doubles.

Needing just two victories in singles play to advance, Lindsey Wilson made short work of the Bears, grabbing victories in No. 2 singles and No. 6 singles – both with 6-0, 6-0 results – to put the contest away.

Molly Richards trailed 6-0, 3-1 versus No. 13 Henar Munoz, grabbing a game victory in the second set before the match was final.
