Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State women's basketball opened their season on Friday night, cruising to a 118-52 victory over Miami-Middletown.
The Bears took a 23-9 advantage in the first quarter, with Brandie Snow (FR/Hartville, Ohio) leading the way with nine points and Madison Ridout (JR/Jackson, Ohio) adding five. It would be Ridout who would help extend the lead to 55-22 at halftime, scoring 14 points to lead at halftime with 19 points.
Madison would continue to dominate in the second half. She would lead all scorers with 25 points on the evening as the Bears would pull away in the second half. Jonessa Moore (SR/Cincinnati, Ohio) added 17 for the Bears, with Brandie Snow making her debut with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Bailey Cummins (FR/Brooksville, Kentucky) would score 14 points and add seven assists, and transfer Shania Massie (SO/Greenfield, Ohio) added 12 points.
With the win, Shawnee State improves to 1-0 on the new season. Miami-Middletown falls to 0-1.
The Bears are next in action on Saturday, October 29th when they take on Ohio-Chillicothe. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00pm.
