Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State men's soccer were back in action on Wednesday afternoon, falling to #2 Rio Grande 8-0.

The Bears' defense held strong through 42 minutes of the first half. Jorge Guinovart would get the breakthrough goal in the 43^rd minute to give Rio Grande the lead. Pau Rodriguez would score the first of three goals on the afternoon just before half on a free kick to make it 2-0 to the Red Storm.

The floodgates would open in the second half for Rio Grande. Rodriguez would get his second goal of the afternoon in the 49^th minute. After an own goal in the 51^st minute, Eduardo Zurita would score in the 59^th minute, followed by Rodriguez' third in the 64^th minute. Substitutes Deri Corfe and Matheus Morgan would score in the 72^nd and 87^th minutes to cap the scoring.

With the loss, Shawnee State falls to 5-9 on the season. Second-ranked Rio Grande improves to 13-1-1.

The Bears are at home on Saturday, October 22^nd for Senior Day when they take on Midway (Ky.) Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00pm.
